Sustainable
Plastics, pharmaceuticals, polyesters, and a thousand other products start their lives as petroleum. Pervasive industrial products such as corrosion inhibitors and flame retardants are derived from mined phosphate. Clearly, these current models aren’t sustainable.
Rivertop's science and process unlock the chemical potential of plant sugars, creating a sustainable supply of bioproducts that are economically and environmentally attractive to industry.

While renewable chemicals have not yet captured the attention of the general public, they will soon as this emerging sector begins to solve two major problems caused by the chemical industry’s reliance on petroleum, natural gas and mining.
The first of these two problems can be readily seen from a single statistic: 7% to 8% of all petroleum is used to make chemicals. As society reduces its dependence on oil, these chemicals will become more scarce and expensive.
The other vexing problem with today’s chemical industry is the threat that toxic chemicals and irresponsible production methods pose to the environment and public health. Rivertop’s products are safe and biodegradable. They are made according to the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry. Responsible production of renewable chemicals is the most sustainable way to continue to enjoy the benefits of chemicals and simultaneously protect the environment and human health.
With the full utilization of feedstocks, and virtually no manufacturing waste, Rivertop intends to become a highly efficient chemical company.
And that’s not just an economically-attractive thing to do. It’s the right thing to do – at the core of our commitment to Progressive Chemistry.
