Kiely Process
An inefficient, uneconomical process for making glucarate and related chemicals was established in the 20th century. Even though flawed, this process proved the technical viability of carbohydrate oxidation. Rivertop’s intellectual property takes the manufacturing process from technically viable to commercially scalable and economically competitive.
In 2006 Rivertop’s founder, Dr. Don Kiely and his research group developed an improved process that enables the mass production of versatile, high-value renewable chemicals, including glucarates.
This intellectual property is consistent with all of the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry.
The Kiely Process places low-cost, biodegradable building blocks at the headwaters of chemical supply. As a result, the “Rivertop” brand was born.
