Cosmetic Exfoliants
Significant scientific data supports the use of glucarates as a highly effective cosmetic exfoliant. Previously the limited supply and high cost of glucarate were limiting factors in its use as an alternative to mucic, salicylic, glycolic, citric and malic acids.
Glucarate, applied topically, gently removes the outer dermal layer to reveal the newer skin beneath. This shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne breakouts.

Rivertop’s development of naturally-derived, biodegradable glucarate further supports the cosmetic industry’s initiative to limit human exposure to harsh chemicals. Rivertop is interested in developing glucarate-based exfoliant agents that can be added to cosmetic creams and scrubs, offering a safe, cost-effective alternative to harsh acids.
